One Small Step. . .

If you were to take one step that you believe would move your business forward, what would it be? I encourage you to contemplate this notion and see what emerges. If you come up with a laundry list of ideas, break it down into three columns, one for tasks, one for projects and one for vision. Tasks are things you just need to get done, a project would typically have a to-do list of its own and under vision, you’d put your ideas for the future – ideas you don’t currently have the capacity, recourses, or skills to move forward. Once you have your list, how do you prioritize and put your attention on the project or task that is going to promote forward momentum? I’d start with what comes most naturally. I often chose what which is easiest to accomplish and/or what I find most enjoyable. Your list might be full of things you don’t like to do because you’ve already finished the ones you enjoy or find easy. If that is the case, look at what is holding you back from the other tasks and projects. Where haven’t you been willing to step forward because you don’t like it, are afraid, or aren’t willing to apply your resources? Then make a commitment to the task or project that is most essential to success, movement, or getting you out of your own way, even if it is hard to do! Tackling your list one task or project at a time will often prove more effective than having many in motion at the same time.

Lastly, consider delegating to someone who can get the task or project done rather than sitting in quick sand and slowly sinking your business. Being stuck will not serve you in the long run so be proactive and take your next step towards business success.
